Age of Wonders III is the long anticipated sequel to the award-winning strategy series. Delivering a unique mix of Empire Building, Role Playing and Warfare, Age of Wonders III offers the ultimate in turn-based fantasy strategy for veterans of the series and new players alike!
As a fan of the AoW series I was very excited about this title and had high expectations. And they were fulfilled! It is a successful continuation of the turn-based strategy game. I find it interesting that each nation and each class are provided...
with their own units. Since the leader belongs to a class and a race, this leads to an individual race. Unfortunately, however, not all combinations make sense - which should be easily recognizable in advance. As one of the few games where you can influence the world map with magic, it offers far-reaching strategic finesse not only in turn-based battles but also on the world map. With an update, world events have been added, which can range from almost useless to massively threatening (powerful heroes can spawn with a large army) - but the AI really happens randomly here, so that the player is not disadvantaged. It should be mentioned that a game with and without such events varies greatly (it can be set when creating maps): while you follow one of the victory types (usually conquest) without the events and face the AI of the other races or other players, in the final game with world events a good variant of victory is to hide yourself against the merciless spawning hordes and wait for the other players to be overrun by them.
Totally you get what is promised here: An age of wonders with rich, versatile, turn-based strategy that can fill hundreds of hours - obligation to buy for all those who like such genres.
