Battle Brothers is a turn based tactical RPG which has you leading a mercenary company in a gritty, low-power, medieval fantasy world. You decide where to go, whom to hire or to fight, what contracts to take and how to train and equip your men in a procedurally generated open world campaign. Do you have what it takes to lead them through bloody battles and to victory? The game consists of a strategic worldmap and a tactical combat layer. On the worldmap you can freely travel in order to take contracts that earn you good coin, find places worth looting, enemies worth pursuing or towns to resupply and hire men at. This is also where you manage, level up and equip your Battle Brothers. Once you engage a hostile party the game will switch to a tactical map where the actual fighting takes place as detailed turn based combat.
a very good game. It's a mixture of Mount&load and Xcom. You control a mercenary unit (up to 20 men) and complete missions or clean the streets of evil creatures or brigands. The tasks themselves are now not too creative, but always refer...
to the same schemata. But this does not destroy the playing feeling. The fights are thrilling and it annoys u00b4 every time you lose a mercenary or release him from his troop due to a permanent injury. It also seems that the enemies are learning their own tactics and trying to tackle them. Increasingly it happens to me that goblins don't attack, but stay behind to take out my archers, or skeletons with a flanking shield wall formation want to destroy my formation. So you still have to rethink your tactics after many hours of playing time. However, it should also be noted that this is already the case at the lowest level of difficulty. In general, the level of difficulty is really hard at the beginning. Only with strong equipment one dares to approach opponents like the orcs again, because an orc berserker can easily defeat 4 opponents alone under good conditions. What amazes me a little is that this game does NOT support any German language, although all locations have German names and the development studio is located in Hamburg. The game as a whole is definitely worth the money. It has a great replay value, because the world is always regenerated and therefore everything is different and the fights don't get boring either.
Definitely a buy recommendation for all who like round strategy and low fantasy.
