Bloober Team SA
Layers of Fear is a psychedelic horror that will keep you on-edge for the reminder of the game. Delve deep into the mind of an insane painter and discover the secret of his madness, as you walk through a constantly shifting house. Heavily inspired by the masterpiece paintings from the past centuries, and the architecture and décor from the XIX century. Layers of Fear is a truly unique experience, where each move of the camera can change your surroundings. Layer by layer uncover the visions, fears and horrors that entwine the protagonist and finish the masterpiece he has strived so long to create.
A MASTERPIECE!!! br>
I discovered the game by chance and bought it directly for some reason without thinking!
Normal I hesitate with such games because there are enough of it now and some of them do not really know to convince but since... I like games so much and I like the setting so much I gave LAYERS OF FEAR a chance! As usual I did my 'pre-ritual', put the light on minimal in the room, everything aside and the headset on something higher volume! Besides, I again approached with no expectations and lousy jumpscares. br>
The 'problem' here? FUCK ANOTHER ONE, BUT THEY'RE SITTING RIGHT THERE! Just the athmosphere in this old mansion with thunderstorms outside comes across so awesome that one is permanently a little tense! This game so deserves the name 'Psycho-Horror' and convinced me from the beginning, it plays with anxieties you already liked in the 80's greeting movies, like Poltergeist and The Powers of Madness etc.! If you took more modern ones, I would definitely say THE WOMAN IN BLACK! :) Without betraying too much, ghost images appear in a mirror, laughter comes out of children's rooms, balls roll and things you absolutely wouldn't expect :) I don't dare to turn around in the game because the whole environment is changing like permanent! You really notice how the game plays with you and takes your breath away again and again for a short time, otherwise I can't describe it! br>
If you liked titles like Amnesia etc. you will love this ;)The game runs great, looks great and the sound is also great (just the soundtrack)
My greeting heart is completely satisfied again! For some, the game may seem a bit short, depending on how you get into it, you can 'work it off' in 2-3 hours or you 'enjoy it' simply! I myself had to stop a few times, partly out of fear, partly I was just impressed!
