After years of tireless explorations, brave Vikings have discovered a new land filled with mystery, danger and riches: Northgard.
The boldest Northmen have set sail to explore and conquer these new shores, bring fame to their Clan and write history through conquest, trading, or devotion to the Gods. That is, if they can survive the dire wolves and undead warriors roaming the land, befriend or defeat the giants, and survive the harshest winters ever witnessed in the North.
After I've searched the game and collected all my successes, I'll just tell you a few sentences. br>
Northgard is a relatively simple strategy game without commodity cycles or many military units and gets its complexity by the selection... of one of currently 3 clans (2 more in progress). These clans play more or less differently, mostly after researching technologies. br>
Complex will play the game by keeping and tactics of small territories with limited building sites and the fact that the Vikings (settlers) rely on an economic model that requires infinite growth. But in a finite space and with currently a maximum of 3 AI opponents. This gives Northgard an unconscious dynamic and forces the player to search for resources such as fertile land, wildlife, stone and iron ore and expand with his Vikings. br>
Currently only single game is possible where the game modes campaign and multiplayer are in progress. You can currently win by 1 of, depending on the setting, all 5 targets. br>
Domination: Defeat all clans
-Fame: Control areas, maximize fame as well as build a prestige building
-Trade: Collect 8, 000 Kröwns as well as store 1, 000 Kröwns and employ at least 4 traders
-Wisdom: Get 4/4 blessings as well as employ 4/4 masters of the teachings
-Map Special: Achieve a map-specific goal zbs. defend the Helheim-Tor for an ingame year or be the first to conquer the (expensive) territory with the tree Yggdrasil
All in all the game is quite simple but by no means easy, whereby I have noticed myself that on the difficulty level Simply a victory is not 'foolproof' )
As settler successor or settler-light Northgard is called because of its scurry factor and the cute animations of the characters, which fits perfectly. If you don't want to spend 20 Euro for a game where you've seen everything after 1-3 cards, I advise you to wait a bit. For an early access game at v0. 1. 3954-beta, Northgard is definitely fun and safe and stable.
So, those were more sentences than I intended. Anyway, I had my fun with the game and after 16h bucked on a review :)At the game and the small RTS slack it is worth the time.
