Lead your team of Runners to survive a corrupt megacorporation's intrigue threatening thousands of lives in this new action-strategy game set in the most popular cyberpunk universe of all times – Shadowrun. Blending X-Com style gameplay with RPG elements in the unique Shadowrun setting and adding an extensive single- and co-op campaign, Shadowrun Chronicles offers the next generation of tactical turn based action games.
I'm positively surprised - Shadowrun Chronicles has become a pretty good game. br>
Shadowrun sends me into a rather linear campaign of tactical battles with other players if desired, the four of us can do the missions in co-op matches. Shadowrun... Chronicles: Boston Lockdown must be activated via Steam and cannot be played offline because I am always in the same hub as other players between missions. This makes it easier to find co-op partners, and I can also go out on my own. br>There is no offline single player mode! Shadowrun Chronicles plays in the not too distant future in 2076 in Boston, populated by orcs with cyber implants and wizard elves. As a shadow runner, I make my money on illegal jobs. The heart of the game is the tactical fights. I steer a team of 4 shadow runners in turns or invite players to the co-op. It depends on the right cover, I move my troop into well protected positions and fight the enemy from there, preferably over the flank. A proven mechanics that also works well here and rewards tactical maneuvers. There are also some special abilities in the game.
'Hacker' e. g. fry enemy robots through the circuits. Of course, there are also good old-fashioned shotguns and assault rifles in the arsenal or I hand out blue eyes in close combat. After a successful battle, I return to my base camp and can turn my hard-won wages for new equipment or robot implants upside down. Also, every mission drops karma points that I can invest in the various skill trees. I can always equip two different weapons at the same time and combine any two skill trees, which is pretty cool. However, there are many possibilities only for the leader of a team. I create this main character at the beginning of the game, I choose race and background, and click a cool runner or a crazy cyberpunk freak out of a huge selection of clothes. Great! But I don't create the other three team members myself. I either invite other players to join me or I have to choose from a group of henchmen who give me the game. I can neither equip nor help to design them. Positioning my team wisely and making full use of all skills works great. What bothered me the most were the petty henchmen in single player mode. But generally, a good game.
