Styx: Master of Shadows is an infiltration game with RPG elements taking place in a dark fantasy universe, where you sneak, steal and assassinate your way through as Styx, a Goblin two-centuries of age.
Very good game! I bought in the sale for 5€ rounded up, the money was more than worth!! An absolute plus point for me: Reminds me extremely of Arx Fatalis from a certain chapter on, both in picture and sound! (One of my favorite games)
If I understood... that correctly, several creative people from Arx Fatalis were also involved in this game. Otherwise sneaking around and assassination/poisoning/accidents are simply fun. You may have to have a vein for black humor, or just love the challenge. It never got boring for me and that means something, because in the end the same pattern happens again and again and I get bored of many games of this kind. This game manages to produce that 'I have to charge and keep looking'-effect over and over again. If you value fast, uncomplicated progress, you are wrong here. As others before me have noticed (and unfortunately often reviewed negatively) you have to load very often here, i. e. save frequently! Direct confrontations are feasible, but not intended as a permanent solution.
If you value these badge nippes (I mean especially the secret badges), do it best in the first three to four chapters (or before). Later it is quite tricky to get through the first run unseen. Not impossible, but difficult.
The background story, however, is a bit confused, not to say constructed, but still interesting. . .. br>Conclusion: Buy recommendation, if you still have doubts, wait for the next sale.
