Now that TLD is about to be released, it's time to review the game.
Now, before the story mode was released, you can invest many hours in TLD in sandbox modes of varying difficulty levels u2013 quite a lot more than I did. TLD is a survival... game that is zombie less (still a rarity in EA release 09/2014). Here you fight as a survivor mainly against natural forces, diseases and depending on the degree of difficulty also against wolves and bears. As with so many games in this direction, the early access phase took much longer than expected, with the release one month before the 3-year anniversary. However, you could always see that TLD has been properly developed. How much has finally changed and how much better TLD now looks compared to 2014 was only noticed when I saw a video comparing gameplay elements side by side. In addition to the sandbox mode, some challenges have been added in the form of relatively challenging scenarios in which you can pursue certain goals.
The map of TLD is quite large and is divided into several areas. All takes time to explore, especially since you can easily overlook things. At some point, however, you have scraped out the last soldered peanut butter jar with your fingers u2013 then at the latest you have to start to hunt your own food, somehow make your essential tools yourself u2013 only then are you (possibly) really challenged
