Train Fever is a railroad-focused business simulation game. In other words, its a modern-day Transport Tycoon with procedural content and a sophisticated city simulation. It's the year 1850, and there are great times ahead! Establish a transport company and be its manager. Build infrastructure such as railways and stations, purchase transportation vehicles and manage lines. Fulfill the people's needs and watch cities evolve dynamically.
Is it still worth buying Train Fever now that the successor Transport Fever is available? Answer: Yes, but only in a sale. I think it is now too expensive for EUR 25.
ABER: Once you have fenced in and the first moves are rolling, it already... has an incredible charm. Then the average graphic suddenly becomes great, at least subjectively. With the countless mods on the net you can also adapt it to your own ideas: lots of new locos, wagons, vehicles, buildings, graphics sets etc. Whoever is looking for an economic simulation like Transport Tycoon or industrial giant is wrong here. Train Fever is very spartan. But if you are a railway fan and just like to sit back and watch your trains roll over the map, you will have fun with Train Fever. Besides (I already mentioned it) Transport Fever doesn't really offer much more than Train Fever. Although there are some new and more complex chains of goods and the possibility to use aircraft and ships in addition to trains and road vehicles, the two games hardly differ visually and mechanically. So, if you can do without the innovations, you really won't miss anything when you get Train Fever.
From me clear buy recommendation for railway fans and players who prefer chilling rather than sweating when gambling ;) Even though I love the game, I have to admit that the thumbs up is not a matter of course for me. There is enough to suspend the game to say that the decision was quite close.
