Fear the wolves. They are cold, they are hungry - and they will stop at nothing to survive…
Ragnarok. Legend has it that when the coldest winter descends, the Jotan will return to take their vengeance against the Gods of Asgard. The world is on the road to perdition and the fate of Midgard hangs in the balance. But when the Fire and Frost Giants begin to merge their armies, they encounter the clan of the Ulfung – the Wolves of Midgard. Bloody, but unbowed following the destruction of their village, this notorious band of ostracized Viking warriors are determined to seize their destiny and save the world. As clan chief, you must save Midgard from complete annihilation, and spearhead the charge to vanquish the fiendish creatures of the Fimbulwinter.
Vikings is a successful Hack and Slay offshoot. The game does almost everything right but nothing really perfect.
The story missions are very simple and don't really offer excitement, there is a little variety here and there through... boss fights or survival modes as well as wave fights, but that's nothing new and no highlight but the Nordic setting, the fluent gamplay, the well done music and the full German setting made me a lot of fun. br>
I played the game with my girlfriend in campaign co-op mode and was thrilled. There is far too little campaign co-op! The Hero Inventory is clear, you can equip your character with many different skills, your armor &. Looting weapons, building and expanding his village as a blacksmith, sacrificial altar. There are 4 difficulty levels, but they are all quite easy, but the bosses waiting at the end of each level offer exciting and pretty looking fights! If you want to have all gods skills, then it is theoretically possible to play through the game 4-5 times and use the Game+ option, because it has a lot of skills, which cannot be unlocked on the first pass! But only theoretically, because the replay value is not really high, because the levels remain the same, and that is quite good in the first run, but in the second run you have already seen a lot. The opponent and Kistenloot also remain largely the same. . . But good for that, the fun of the first run is very high. The graphics are quite good for a Hack &. Slay.
I also liked that it is not a sloppy port as some people claim, but that you have a keyboard optimized arrangement when playing with the keyboard in the inventory menu, for example. But most of them play the genre with controller anyway. br>
The developers have also fixed almost all bugs in my playing time. Great! Another little criticism is: there is not really this 'Gegnermau00e9n' to slaughter as you know it from Vikings Battle of Asgard or other Hack and Slay games. It's more like Diablo.
