Xenonauts is a strategy game in which you control a multi-national military organisation defending a Cold War-era Earth from alien invasion, using small squads of persistent soldiers to eliminate the extraterrestrials and recover their technology in turn-based ground combat. A detailed strategic layer allows you to co-ordinate the defence of the planet, using your interceptors to shoot down UFOs and researching captured artefacts to learn about your foes and unlock new combat equipment to use on your missions. Xenonauts is a spiritual successor to the classic X-Com strategy games from the 1990s. We aim to improve the graphics, add new content and streamline the interface whilst still retaining all of the key mechanics of the original games. Devoted fans should love this game, but were also keen to introduce the joys of old-school grand strategy to a whole new generation of players who might not otherwise experience it!
one can compare Xenonauts partly with the good old classics X-Com Enemy Unknown. The principle of rounding tactics is working. The horror moments as in the classics, when you weigh yourself and your soldiers to safety and suddenly... an alien comes around the corner or from the shadow an attack on your troops is just as present as the base building. Up to 7 bases you can stamp out of the ground and with the money that the community of states transfers to you, but are you as good at financing and will you make it until then? At least the aliens can attack your bases and bother you. With research you can explore captured alien technology and bring your own technique to the front to survive against the aliens and finally you have to find out why the aliens are there. br>br>
Xenonauts offers everything that inspired fans of the old classic and still does today.
Also Xenonauts is mod-enabled and I can also recommend the drages mod called 'X-Division' here. The mod offers even more range, more weapons and more depth than Xenonauts already offers. A clear buy recommendation from me, the money is well invested and supports the developers also with their new project called Xenonauts 2 :-)br>
