It was supposed to be a simple mission. All I had to do was collect some samples from a contaminated area under the sea. As soon as I left the ship, everything went wrong. Communications were lost and my submarine crashed on the ocean floor. I survived, but my oxygen is running low and I cant contact anyone for help. All I can do is move forward with this operations drone as my only companion. Trouble is, its been acting sort of weird lately. Almost as if its trying to sabotage my mission... Anoxemia is a story-driven exploration game that puts you in control of the scientist Dr. Bailey and his operations drone, ATMA. Search the ocean floor as you discover and extract samples from the bowels of the underwater caves. Danger lurks in each passageway, everything from poison drifts to powerful ocean currents, mines leftover from the war, and mobile machines running haywire. Theres also the ever-present risk of running out of oxygen. Fortunately, ATMA can help guide you to your destination using a few special tools and upgrades. Assuming you can find them, that is. The world of Anoxemia is both breathtaking and perilous. The seas are quiet most of the time, but as soon as you see a flashing light or hear a noise echoing from the distance, you know its time to run. Of course, there are some dangers you just cant run from. Dangers you dont even know exist. Dangers from within...
When I saw the screenshots, I was pretty sceptical. Simple graphics and gameplay could be seen and mostly positive ratings. That means there are negative aspects.
- good sound
- easy control with a controller
- simple average good graphics
-... interesting new gameplay
- nice story
- partly good atmosphere
- over 30 levels (I won't say exact number for spoiler reasons)
- no checkpoints
- german subtitles
- collection cards
- steam achievements
br>short summary about what it's about : We control a drone underwater that has an energy and oxygen indicator. With us is a diver we can't control manually. He's following us, but we can also tell him to stop. Over time, this drone learns new 'abilities'. These skills are needed to get the diver alive through the underwater world. This holds dangers such as mines and enemies in the form of plants and small submarines. In the middle of a level you can find oxygen tanks, energy tanks and update balls for the drone. Because the time of the oxygen and the energy display runs out and thus also becomes the opponent.
I would describe the beginning of the game, the first levels, as not so good beginning. Because only white parts or plants have to be collected. Besides, you can find boxes with items in them. Then it becomes more interesting in the middle part, because opponents are added. The fun increases per level, because it is varied and sometimes nasty, because there are NO checkpoints. It's worth giving the game a chance and not giving up after a few levels and saying it's too monotonous and boring for me. For me it's a new gameplay idea and this idea convinced me. Because it's not a boring level to work off. Because the game has a story.
