The main character of the game is Isaac, an ordinary and happy boy. However, one day his religious-fanatical mother hears the voice of God commanding her to sacrifice her child. Isaac then flees into a basement latch and, with it, a fictional nightmare in which he fights for his life. "The Binding of Isaac " is divided into different dungeons, which can be played through relatively quickly. The playing time is about 1 hour. With each restart, the game world is completely regenerated, which is why no run is like the other, and it is quite fun to play the game several times again. Here the player sees the events from a bird's eye view and can run, shoot at enemies, and collect objects. Mainly because of the limited possibilities, the game is tough and requires a lot of concentration, skill, and accuracy from the player. "The Binding of Isaac" is a motivating action game with appealing game mechanics and high replay value. Due to the dark story and the depicted (comic-)violence, a specific ability of reflection is required. The overall mood of the game is very macabre and bloodthirsty with many religious allusions. "The Binding of Isaac " has been sold over 2 million times on the PC alone, not least because the developer has had an excellent reputation in the games industry since "Gish" and "Meat Boy".
