Seen by chance on the PSP, played and immediately in love and since then a little dependent on the series :3Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim is no ordinary JRPG in which you have to consider how to skill your character and what magic he should acquire - no it is much simpler and yet challenging. First of all, if you're looking for a turn-based RPG, you're out of place here with Ys VI, possibly even with the whole Ys saga (unfortunately I'm not so into the matter that I could say if a part relies on turn-based combat). Who likes real time fights and is not deterred by jump'n run will feel very comfortable herein Ys VI there is a level-up system, but this is rather in the background compared to the equipment. There are 3 stats (HP, Def, Str) which are also increased by level-ups, but 2 stats (def and str) are primarily determined by your equipment. The level of your weapons is also far more important than your character's level. So, if you need some variety from the typical RPGs and are interested in a small but nice story, you will surely get along with Ys VI and if you have already done so, I strongly recommend to have a look at Ys Oath of Felghana and Ys Origin.
