Darkwood provides a new perspective on survival horror. Scavenge and explore the rich, ever-changing free-roam world by day, then hunker down in your hideout and pray for the morning light. FEATURES: Survival horror from a top-down perspective that is terrifying to play. By day explore the randomly generated, ever-sinister woods, scavenge for materials, craft weapons and discover new secrets. By night find shelter, barricade, set up traps and hide or defend yourself from the horrors that lurk in the dark. Gain skills and perks by extracting a strange essence from mutated fauna and flora and injecting it into your bloodstream. Watch out for unexpected consequences… Make decisions that impact the world of Darkwood, its inhabitants and the story you experience. Meet eerie characters, learn their stories and decide their fate. And remember - don't trust anyone. As nights go by, the lines between reality and nightmarish fantasies begin to blur. Are you ready to step into Darkwood?
Holy Sh#t u2013 what a great game. I love every minute. Without a doubt one of my game highlights 2017, I don't know where to start with praise. Actually, I don't want to go too much into the in-game events, the more unprepared and unplanned...
you stumble into the forest here, the more u201eschöneru201c the experience becomes. I don't know when u2013 last time I died in a game, measured by the playing time u2013. What stands out for me here is the fact that in Darkwood the horror is not created cheaply by a few scarejumps, but primarily by the atmosphere - especially in the night sections of the
game u2013 is kept continuously on a respectable level. It is not made with a wooden hammer, but by what I think is a brilliant interplay of environment and soundscape, a permanently unpleasant feeling of nervous u201e on the tips of his toes u201c is created. u201eWhat is sneaking around u201c and u201e What the hell is happening again u201c sums it up quite well, without giving away too much. And even if one understands one or the other with increasing play duration
u2013 by the unpredictability of the nocturnal events at no time a feeling of security arises. You can prepare for the night to a certain extent, but there is never a guarantee for u00b4's survival. Praise and thanks to the developers - that's how you do it. This is what the first performance of Resident Evil felt like to me in 1996.
What you have to prepare for here ( without spoiler ):
1. ) You're going to die. Often. Really, boy. 2. ) If you stay away from the (good )wiki, no one will take you by the hand. 3. ) If you like cuddly soft and you are looking for a game that forgives every mistake with a smile, I recommend the Sims. Darkwood is the horror clown standing by your bed at night. So more the opposite. 4. ) If you play this during the night with headphones, are in the night cycle and someone suddenly grabs your shoulder from behind, you should have good coronary arteries. ( By the way, I'll pay you back home woman! You will not know how and you will not know when - but vengeance is mine says the Lord. . )
5. ) Did I mention that frequent demise is part of the game? Conclusion: Clear buy recommendation from my side. As a survival horror lover, you can't make a mistake here. Small tip on the side: Make sure to play with headphones. If you don't live alone, barricade the door first. If you live alone, too.
Have a nice day.
