Beneath the fading town of Dirtmouth sleeps an ancient, ruined kingdom. Many are drawn below the surface, searching for riches, or glory, or answers to old secrets. Hollow Knight is a classically styled 2D action adventure across a vast interconnected world. Explore twisting caverns, ancient cities and deadly wastes; battle tainted creatures and befriend bizarre bugs; and solve ancient mysteries at the kingdoms heart.
Hollow Knight has surprisingly catapulted to number 1 on my Medroidvania leaderboard. It beats Super Metroid, Symphony of the Night and Ori and the Blind Forest. I haven't lost myself in such a charming and atmospheric world for a long time. The...
characters are remembered, the level design is great except for one area (the not great area is still very well designed) and the game feel, with character control and combat system is not overloaded, precise, direct and challenging. You move smoothly and the controls just feel good.
And I already mentioned that the world is incredibly big and you always find new areas and you think yourself: 'Wow, cool, that still exists?'
I was always surprised by new environments, enemies and bosses. The game gives and gives and does not stop giving you presents. The price of 15 Euros demanded here is a joke and the developers were formally confirmed. Hollow Knight is the best game of its genre and I am incredibly happy that it exists. Play it people! It is a masterpiece and it will still be mentioned years later in disscusions in the same breath as Super Metroid and Co.
