I've only played about an hour so far, but that was enough for the first 3 levels and I think you can get an idea of it. This is a 2D beat'em up in the samurai setting, which is positive in itself, since there is hardly anything like this, at...
least in the West. The graphic style looks good and atmospheric. There are 2 characters and for more individualization there are several fighting schools to choose from, which change the stats and also bring unique abilities e. g. a double jump. Of course, most of them have to be unlocked. The moral decisions, in which pros and cons are shown, also give the game a high replay value.
From the gameplay it has to compete for me with the last game of this kind, Wulverblade. But here Samurai Riot draws the shorter one, because there are two attack buttons and several special moves, but an alternative button, I would have wished myself already. A collision detection would not be bad either, because it happened too often that an opponent was suddenly behind me after blocking attacks and then of course he gave me one and the reason was. I had fought my way past them. That doesn't have to be. This section is my purely subjective feeling and would not be included if there was an evaluation. Therefore the spoiler bar
