Blacksad: Under the Skin is a detective adventure with animal characters that takes place in the 50's. It follows the depiction of the graphic novel of the same name by Juan Diaz Canales and Juanjo Guardino. After the boxing club owner Joe Dunn is found dead and his star athlete Bobby Yale disappears from the scene, detective John Blacksad has to dig his way through a swamp of corruption. Thanks to his great freedom of choice, the player can determine which facet of Blacksad's personality he wants to unfold. The investigative adventure revolves around investigations, puzzles, quick time events and multiple-choice dialogues. The hero is not a normal cat but rather a person in the shape of a cat. All figures in the adventure game are so-called anthropomorphic animals: they have animal traits but behave like humans and walk on two legs. A dark noir-style crime story unfolds around them in fictitious New York City - including melancholic jazz music.
