What is Empathy: Path of Whispers about?

Blinking against the light, you step into a world that seems broken apart, almost dead… Yet there is a pulse, beating faintly in the back of your mind. What has happened in this place, where the people are gone and their memories echo in the silence? Where emotions appear as physical things, hanging in the air, just waiting for someone to reach out…

Empathy: Path of Whispers is a first-person, action adventure game with a strong focus on storytelling and exploration. Players will find themselves in a surreal world, made from people's emotions and memories, which they can manipulate and explore. Those lost memories are the key to rebuilding the crumbling world back to its former state, discovering its mysterious past and halting the impending apocalypse. Through its innovative narrative mechanics the game will challenge the player to explore and gain an understanding of the weird world they are traveling through.

I'm writing this review right after playing the game. Who likes Walking Simulator can't do much wrong with this game. You explore the world and collect memories to clear up the past. You are accompanied by a narrator who is not the first person. The game is divided into 5 acts, with smooth transitions. In short: We are a child who is asked by the narrator to clarify the past. After the people in Chernosk went mad, they finally disappeared completely. We must discover the reason in the memorabilia that accompany us on the way to the solution. The atmosphere in each area is different, but each time coherent and with appropriate music. You have a lot of room to interpret the fragments of memory, although you like to be on the wrong track. You don't get to the right approaches too quickly, so you're really busy with the whole game and you hardly have any dead ends. The nice thing about the game is that the important finds for the story become visible with a scanner, you have to find all optional memory fragments yourself, so you can't miss any important parts. Another point I really appreciate are the authentic dubbing a. c t o r s. The diary is clearly arranged and contains all important reminders. In addition, the controls are simple and you can fully concentrate on the game. Of course there are also a few small negative points, but they don't really bother. From time to time the control hooks and you get stuck on edges. Some of the subtitles contain spelling mistakes or missing translations, which didn't bother me personally, I just noticed. I can recommend the game, even if it belongs to the quieter kind of games.
