Fortnite is a third-person shooter that consists of two games: the free playable Fortnite: Battle Royale for up to 100 players and Fortnite, which is paid and offers completely different gameplay. While Fortnite: Battle Royale is a PvP multiplayer game that finishes with only one player or one team of players remaining as the game world gets smaller and smaller, the original Fortnite is a co-op shooter for teams of up to four players. In the latter's PvE battles, you compete against a variety of monsters, complete small quests, upgrade your character, weapons, and equipment. These upgrade features are not available in the Battle Royale mode. What both modes share, however, apart from the graphics and basic controls, is the ability to build objects like houses, stairs, walls, and traps in the game world.
In Fortnite, you build a base between missions and travel from one open level to the next. In Battle Royale, on the other hand, you jump from a flying bus and parachute onto the PvP map. You choose a landing spot with your glider and try to acquire weapons and equipment immediately after landing. Items include potions and bandages that restore lost health. If you encounter an opponent, you use your arsenal of melee and ranged weapons to destroy him. Using the Fortnite construction menu, you can set up your own small base camps and traps. Walls and ramparts offer you protection, but only as long as they are intact. Buildings, as well as the surrounding area, can be damaged and destroyed. At regular intervals, the storm advances, continually reducing the size of the playable area. Players who remain outside of the marked areas will quickly have their life points drained - all participants will be confronted with a duel sonner or later.
