Ever since Cyberpunk 2077 was revealed at E3 2019, a lot of fans have been eager to get more information about the game - not only because of John Wick, Keanu Reeves appearing on stage and in the new gameplay trailer. The Polish developer studio CD Projekt Red has now announced a hardcore mode for the upcoming open-world game, revealed in an interview given by Alvian Liu, the UI (User interface) coordinator of the studio.
What effects does the hardcore setting have?
The UI will provide you with a lot of information as you navigate the city, providing you with details about people, weapons, vehicles, and objects. As a lot of players might find a cluttered UI too distracting at times, Cyberpunk 2077 will feature a hardcore difficulty mode which will resolve this issue. In hardcore mode, the UI is disabled, and you have to figure out a lot of things on your own. The playstyle essentially robs you of all the features that help you in any way. No indicators or markers are showing you the level of the enemy you are fighting; you won't even have any tags showing their position - making the game more challenging and fun for hardcore players.
You can, therefore, enjoy a more immersive Cyberpunk 2077 experience, allowing you to lose yourself in the beautiful, well-detailed world. The whole game will have no invisible limitations, allowing you to visit all areas right from the start - but watch out for enemies that are much too strong for your character. Alvin Liu sadly did not reveal if the hardcore mode will have tougher enemies and fewer resources, like in hardcore modes of other games. If you are not familiar with first-person games yet, the game will also include a newbie mode, allowing first-time players to get up on the right foot.
The varying game modes, romance options, and alternate storylines show how much CD Project Red is focused on and respects player choices. Cyberpunk 2077 releases on April 16, 2020, for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
