At E3 2019, CD Projekt Red has finally announced the release date for Cyberpunk 2077. While the gigantic, expansive title will be released on April 16, 2020, many questions are still left open. The developers had previously signalled that they might consider turning their attention to a multiplayer mode. But will the game have multiplayer right from the start?
While rumours about a multiplayer mode are not new to the game, we can
finally answer the question. In short,
Cyberpunk 2077 will not have multiplayer at its release
date. However, this does not mean, that the developers have abandoned
multiplayer altogether. According to lead quest designer
Pawel Sasko, the only focus of the development team is set on
the single player part for now. This means, that if multiplayer is
considered, it will be well after the release. According to Sasko,
there have been many discussions about this feature, with comparisons
being drawn between
GTA 5
Online and Cyberpunk 2077. In any case, the developers want to create
their own style of multiplayer -

like.
So far, the developers have only presented singleplayer content for Cyberpunk 2077 behind closed doors. A possible multiplayer feature might, therefore, take a while to finish - especially considering the new statements. Whether, and when a multiplayer component will be released for the game is still open. In Cyberpunk 2077, players jump into the shoes of V, a mercenary in Night City - a rough and gang governed metropolis with six unique districts. The game will be released on April 16, 2020, for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game can already be pre-ordered - a much-anticipated Collector's Edition is already out of stock in many places. To bridge the wait until the singleplayer release, the developers plan to reveal their E3 2019 gameplay demo soon.
