It Is Coming

It Is Coming is a first-person low-poly collectathon inspired by Garry's Mod PNG killer NPCs. You play as the next poor lad to get abducted and brought to Planet Camebox. You'll go through maps while collecting Orbs and avoiding contact with whichever anomaly is hunting you down. Look out for the random events, they can help and harm you. Collecting more orbs unlocks more anomalies to choose from, and getting high ranks unlocks more maps. There rests a strange planet called Camebox. For a long time, unknown entities have been abducting people and bringing them back for trials, particularly experimenting with the idea of immortality through resurrection and making sure people don't stay dead. The project has achieved some results, but it comes at a terrible cost: Every time someone is resurrected, their mentality gets worse. When someone completely breaks inside, they turn into an anomaly, a large, mindless, image-like monster hellbent on killing anyone and everyone it sees. In this way, the anomalies are like slow-working zombies. As told through logs the player can find within the game, there previously existed a small group of humans intent on finding a way to escape Camebox. They gained and lost several members as time went on, with one short-running person Bree knew having supposedly found a way to escape resurrection before disappearing, and ultimately built a UFO to ferry them all home. Two major members of the group were Maxi and Lake, who were very close to one another. As the days and weeks and months went by, Maxi's mental health deteriorated badly, and shortly after the UFO was finished, she gave in and turned into the anomaly known as the Red Lady. This caused Lake to snap, and he stole the UFO and left the planet in the middle of the night, abandoning the other humans. An unknown amount of time later, the player arrives and is all alone on Camebox. They first encounter the anomaly Angel, and narrowly escape. Several maps and hundred orbs later, they arrive at the Death Corn map. Suddenly, a UFO arrives and crash lands in the area, offering a way out as well as seemingly enraging Angel. The player has the choice to either board the UFO and escape the planet or use the normal map exit to continue their "holiday". Should the player choose the former option, they find a log from Lake in which he remorsefully admits what he did, that he was sending the UFO back to Camebox to help anyone else in need, and that upon arriving back home, the player should set its autopilot to return for the same reason. Ultimately, the fates of the other original humans besides Maxi and Lake are unknown, nor it is clear how long ago their story occurred. It is left ambiguous whether Lake was the one who sent the UFO back to help the player, or if it was somebody else who also used the ship and sent it back as he instructed in his log.
