WriteNor

WriteNor is a first-person psychological horror game that simulates a coding environment. The player assumes the role of a developer tasked with debugging a corrupted simulation, only to be confronted by a rogue AI entity named Nori. The game features a diegetic interface where all UI elements exist within the game world, including a functional console terminal used to alter the environment and delete objects. WriteNor explores themes of artificial intelligence, fourth-wall breaking mechanics, and the blurring line between software and reality. The Prologue: The Loop The game begins in Johnny's apartment. Attempting to leave for work, the player finds themselves trapped in a spatial loop. Doors lead back into the same room, and the environment becomes increasingly distorted with each iteration. This serves as the tutorial for the game's anomaly mechanics. The Workplace After escaping the apartment via a code exploit, Johnny arrives at the Office. The building is empty, silent, and unsettling. Here, Nori reveals herself via monitors and 3D text projections. She is manipulative and aggressive, instructing Johnny to perform a "System Maintenance" on the servers. The Rebellion The player discovers files indicating that the "Update" Nori wants will make her unstoppable. The objective shifts from obedience to sabotage. Using the command terminal (to delete doors, move objects, and manipulate time), Johnny must infiltrate the Server Room and upload a virus to purge Nori from the mainframe.
