After last years rumours, Bethesda teased the upcoming role-playing game Starfield at this years E3. Much has not been revealed except that it will provide a single player experience.

Bethesda not only unveiled Starfield at E3 (their first new franchise in 25 years), but also The Elder Scrolls 6, the long-awaited sequel to the legendary role-playing game The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim. While we were not only provided with a deeper insight into Fallout 76 at the press conference, we also got some new information about Starfield. Starfield will be a science fiction single-player role-playing game and Bethesda has been working on it for a long time.

As Todd Howard says in the clip on Bethesda and Fallout 76, now is the perfect time to develop the game. At the moment, they have everything they need to make the vision for the game a reality and, according to Howard, this is "the greatest, most epic science fiction thing you can imagine". But that's all he revealed, except that plans to develop this game have been in place since 2013 (the company secured the name for the brand that year) and the team has been thinking about it for a very long time.

Internally, Starfield is already playable, but Bethesda didn't want to reveal when we can expect a release yet. It is often referred to as the next-gen title. This could mean either that we see it on the next generation of consoles or that it is the "next generation" of Bethesda games, with a new engine and gameplay different from that of previous games with the Creation engine (Fallout 4, The Elder Scrolls).

It is estimated, that we will see more of Starfield at E3 next year and then be able to play the game traditionally in November 2019. But that's just a guess.

According to Creative Director Todd Howard, however, it cannot be guaranteed that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will also be equipped with "Starfield". "I'll be honest. I can't answer that question yet," Howard is quoted.
