Forza Horizon 4: Not only prettier than Horizon 3

Forza Horizon 4 promises improved graphics and lower system requirements, with dynamic seasons and new content updates.

Forza Horizon 4 is the sequel to Microsoft's exclusive Open World Racing series. As the Horizon 3 debut turned out to be pretty bumpy in 2016, the developers of Playground Games have learned from the past and are now promising a significantly better port of Forza Horizon 4 for all the PC gamers out there.

But that's not all: Forza Horizon 4 should not only look prettier than all its predecessors on one hand but even have lower system requirements on the other. While the exact specs are not known yet, they should, therefore, sit below the 2016 racing game.

Forza Horizon 3 system requirements

For comparison, here are the minimum requirements that Forza Horizon 3 requires:

  • Operating System: Windows 10, 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel i-4170 @ 3.7 GHz
  • Graphics card: Geforce GT 740, Radeon R7 250x, 2 GB video memory
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM

The official requirements of Horizon 4 have not yet been specified, but more details should be announced soon before the release on October 2, 2018.

Dynamic Seasons

Furthermore, as announced at this year's E3 presentation, Forza Horizon 4 will feature a dynamic weather system. With the dynamic weather, Forza Horizon 4 wants to take on a new level that will certainly benefit the game. In autumn, puddles form and slippery foliage covers the roads making curves a greater challenge, while road handling takes on a whole new dimension in winter, when everything is covered in snow and ice.

The seasons will therefore not only provide visual variety, but also simply create more replay value. After all, routes will be significantly different under different weather conditions.

26 cars - 26 weeks

While Forza Horizon 3 has often been updated with new content after the release, Forza Horizon 4 wants to add another scoop. Every in-game year - every four weeks - new content will be added to the game. In addition, a new vehicle will come out every week for the first 26 weeks after the release, which drivers can then add to their collection.

Team Adventure

Not only does Forza Horizon 4 continue to evolve in gameplay technology, but also in interaction with players. In this new, competitive mode, you'll be competing with friends against other teams of six players. And it's not just the individual performance that counts: in the end, the team which has earned the most points overall, will stand at the top of the podium. As a result, it is not enough to have only one outstanding driver in the team. The other players must also perform well if your team really plans on winning.

As in other competitive games, your team must also complete some qualifying races first. They serve to assign you to a race class and to prevent frustration from ranking against higher level players.

Graphics not to be missed

Forza Horizon 4 will be launched at the beginning of October. It remains to be seen which system requirements the PC version has to meet - concrete information on the system specs are still missing. In the meantime, we have concluded some of the most important graphic features of the game.

  • Forza Horizon 4 gets a FOV slider
  • Similar to Assassin's Creed: Origins, the menu will contain a detailed performance benchmark, with which you can check your settings.
  • Extremely high graphics settings for particularly powerful computers.
  • No raytracing technology, but HDR optimization
  • Crossplay between Xbox One and PC.
  • Native 4K displays and 60 fps are encouraged.
  • The most beautiful version will be the PC version.
